The Rock Church Mission Statement

Why we exist

To make wholehearted followers of Jesus.

what we do

We create environments where people encounter Jesus, connect in community, and are equipped to serve.

How we behave

Our actions are shaped by the teachings of Jesus found in Matthew chapters 5-7.

We are poor in spirit.
We choose humility and teachability, live in dependence on God, and recognize our ongoing spiritual need.

We embrace emotional challenges.
We extend compassion, practice vulnerability, and care for others as people acquainted with grief.

We are meek.
We are gentle and humble, rooted in Christ, demonstrating strength that serves rather than dominates, and remain open to being wrong and receiving feedback.

We long for righteousness.
We find our satisfaction in Christ alone, live in surrender, and long for Jesus with all our hearts.

We are merciful.
We extend forgiveness, lead with compassion, and approach others without judgment.

We are pure in heart.
We pursue transparency, speak and live truthfully, stay focused, and let our motivations be pure.

We are peacemakers.
We connect people to God and to each other, bring healing to relationships, cultivate unity, and actively work for peace.

We persevere through trials.
We carry joy through trials, hold fast in faith, and welcome the growth that comes through pain.

How we succeed

By modeling a Spirit-led culture of authenticity.
We prioritize and practice the presence of God, leading with transparency, vulnerability, and honesty.

By loving and prioritizing people.
We connect people quickly, value relationships over process, move in unity, and foster a community of belonging.

By equipping and empowering people to serve.
We develop people, equip them in their gifts, and consistently hand off ministry to empower others.

By having fun.
We carry the easy end, embrace intentional rest and play, and don’t take ourselves too seriously.
