Serve Team Background Checks
At The Rock Church, creating a safe and welcoming environment is one of our highest priorities. We want every parent, student, and guest to feel confident that our serve teams are trustworthy, prepared, and committed to caring for people well. One of the key ways we do this is through background checks for certain roles on the Serve Team.
About Background Checks
We believe that caring for people is both a privilege and a responsibility. Scripture calls us to protect the vulnerable and steward our ministries with wisdom. Background checks help us:
- Create a safe environment for kids, students, and families
- Protect vulnerable individuals
- Maintain integrity in leadership and care-focused positions
- Build trust with our community
- Reduce preventable risks in ministry
These checks are a standard part of volunteer screening in churches everywhere and help ensure that our teams operate with excellence.
Not every team requires a background check. We only request one when the role involves working closely with minors, vulnerable adults, sensitive areas of ministry, or leadership positions. Currently, background checks are required for:
- Group Leaders
- Kids Ministry
- Student Ministry
- Prayer Teams
- Worship
- Tech
Our background checks are designed to be thorough but non-intrusive. They typically include:
- Identity verification
- Nationwide and county-level criminal history search
- Sex offender registry check
No credit check is performed.
We partner with Checkr, a trusted, nationally recognized screening service used by churches, nonprofit organizations, and businesses across the country. We chose this provider because they offer:
- Secure, encrypted systems
- Full compliance with federal standards (FCRA)
- Fast and accurate reporting
