Our Story
The Story of The Rock Church
The Rock Church began in 1998 as a small Bible study where six adults and eight children gathered with a shared desire to grow in faith. From the very beginning, our mission has remained unwavering: to make wholehearted followers of Jesus.
Throughout the early years of the church, we met in several locations,, from hotels to warehouses, until we finally landed at our current location in Scarborough, Maine in 2011. As attendance grew, so did the need for a larger space.
In 2019 an expansion project increased our facility’s size from 7,000 to 20,000 square feet. Generous giving made it possible to create a spacious new Worship Center, café, additional classrooms, and accessible bathrooms. More than just a building, this transformation represented a renewed commitment to fostering deeper faith, stronger community, and a place where lives could be changed.
As we look to the future, we remain rooted in the mission that has guided us from the beginning: to make wholehearted followers of Jesus.
While leadership may change, the heart of the Church remains the same. We are not built around one person, but around the person of Jesus Christ. Our focus is forward: on the Kingdom of God, on lives transformed by grace, and on reaching our community and world with the good news of the Gospel. The mission continues.
